# Problem Statement

Traditional hackathons face significant challenges that limit their effectiveness:

1. **Lack of Transparency**: Centralized hackathon platforms often lack well-defined, transparent mechanisms for evaluating participants, tracking fund utilization, and assessing project outcomes. Participants frequently express concerns about opaque judging criteria, while sponsors and stakeholders struggle to verify how their funds are allocated and whether they yield tangible results. This lack of transparency creates trust issues among all involved parties, discouraging continued participation and investment.
2. **Inefficient Resource Allocation:** Ensuring fair and efficient distribution of resources—such as mentorship, funding, and platform access—remains a persistent challenge for organizers. Sponsors often face difficulties in tracking the effectiveness of their contributions, while participants may not receive the necessary support to develop their ideas fully. As a result, high-potential projects may remain underfunded or lack proper mentorship, while less impactful ideas receive undue attention due to structural inefficiencies.
3. **Subjective Judging**: Judging processes in traditional hackathons frequently suffer from inconsistencies and bias, undermining their credibility. Evaluation criteria are often not standardized, leading to significant variations in scoring and assessment. Participants may feel demotivated when their work is judged based on subjective opinions rather than objective benchmarks. Additionally, the lack of verifiable judging records makes it difficult to address grievances, further decreasing participant satisfaction and trust in the system.
4. **Participant Challenges**: Participants encounter multiple hurdles when navigating the hackathon ecosystem. Finding relevant events that align with their skill sets and interests is often cumbersome due to fragmented event listings and inefficient search mechanisms. Networking with like-minded individuals remains a challenge, preventing potential collaborations that could enhance project quality. Furthermore, the absence of a verifiable reputation system makes it difficult for participants to showcase their previous contributions, reducing their credibility when applying for future hackathons, grants, or job opportunities.
5. **Organizational Inefficiencies**:

* Discrepancy in Presentations: Often, the submitted presentations differ from the actual projects, creating confusion and mismanagement.
* Manual Workload: Organizers frequently need to create and update sheets manually to allocate judges and mentors based on participant numbers, increasing operational complexity.
* Delayed Rewards: Achievement certificates and prizes take days or even weeks to reach participants, dampening their enthusiasm.
